Grading and Excavation
The core of what we do. Cut, fill, compact and shape the site to the plan set, through to building pads that are tested and proof-rolled, so the pad, the roads and the drainage all land where the engineer drew them.
Scope
What is included
Anything not listed, ask. We will tell you straight whether it is ours.
-
Mass grading
Cut and fill across the tract with haul management and stockpile planning.
-
Rough and fine grading
Subgrade for pads, roads and parking fields to tolerance.
-
Building pads
Pads cut to subgrade or built up in lifts, each lift compaction-tested and the pad proof-rolled with the inspector present.
-
Tilt-up and slab-on-grade tolerances
Tighter grades for panel casting beds and racking floors on industrial work.
-
Import and export
Fill sourced or spoil hauled when the balance does not work on site.
-
Rock and unsuitable material
Undercut and replace, or break and remove, priced up front from the geotech.
How we run it
On the job
- We bid the plan set and the geotech report, not a guess from the road.
- Survey checks at every milestone keep the grade honest between stakes.
- A pad is not done until it has been proof-rolled with the inspector present.
Where this shows up
Questions we get
What happens if we hit rock or bad soil?
It is flagged the day we find it, priced from the geotech unit rates, and nothing moves until the GC says go.
How tight can you hold an industrial slab subgrade?
To whatever the structural and geotech specs call for. Tell us the tolerance on the plans and we grade and check to it.
